Founding Story & Commitment to Honest Formulas
Marlowe & Sage began in a rented kitchen unit in Bristol, after our founder spent years reading skincare labels that promised a great deal and disclosed very little. Tired of vague 'blend' wording covering up thin, water-heavy formulas, she started mixing small batches of her own using cold-pressed oils and named plant extracts, checked by hand rather than left to a distant factory line.
As word spread, we kept the same habits that started it all: working directly with a small number of growers and suppliers, mixing in limited runs rather than industrial tanks, and opening and checking every batch before it is sealed for dispatch. We would rather ship less, on time and checked properly, than promise more than our small workshop can actually deliver.
We also kept our pricing straightforward. There is no retail middleman marking up each jar between our workshop and your door, orders are dispatched directly with tracking, and we deal with any issue under our own responsibility rather than passing you between departments.
Plain Ingredient Lists
We write out every ingredient we use in plain language on the pack. If we would not want to explain an ingredient to a customer directly, we do not use it.
Small-Batch Discipline
We mix in limited runs so that one person can genuinely check each batch. Growing faster than our own checking process is not something we are willing to do.
Direct Responsibility
There is no separate customer service department hiding behind a ticket system. If something about your order is wrong, our own team deals with it directly.
We founded Marlowe & Sage because we were tired of unclear ingredient lists and rushed mass production. Every formula we sell is chosen, checked and packaged by our own small team before it reaches you.
